Jeez, Duncan can certainly talk things up, there may have been a Mk2 that sold for $1800 but what about the one's that did not??
As for the Lawrence refence, sure they sold for big money but they also sold a WW2 Lithgowicon for over 2k! do they sell for that money here in NZ?? i hate it when sellers talk their up wares by comparing oversea prices.

Yes, its a bit of a talk, personally Id want something with history, or for that money perfect and complete, not this. Back in feb or so I did see a minty, one of he [in-]famous Irish Blondes (no4 mk2) go for $1760NZ on TM, I didnt have that sort of cash. Given I just got a complete no4 PHale range gun with PH5c sights for $750 maybe the gods smiled on me.

There is also a buggered gun being sold for $75 with a new unmarked bolt...surprised D isnt waiting...he seems interested...the above seems to be missing a bolt.
I'll watch with interest, best outcome its a bitza...but that might suit some ppl.

Yep a fair amount of talking up goes on TM, ( phillipjames being one of the worst) a recent auction for a No5 had the seller ( & yes i know he does post here on this forum) saying they went for $800 at the recent Antique arms auction in Wellington, BS one sold for $800 but the other 3 or 4 sold between $350 & $650 stupid thing was the $800 No5 was the worst of the bunch as it had been varnished!

I know Im a beginner but I wonder if some ppl know what they are looking at, they seem to be dressed for the part though you know the rough, salt of the earth dressup.

Ive watched no4s with shotout barrels that look better externally go for more than ones with decent barrels....ive given up figuring out why.

There is a estate auction going on TM, lots of barrels wish I had some $s....but Im spent out.

Ive not looked at no5s much, no huge interest, I'd like one for WSRA carbine day but the premium ouch.....still there seem to be a few about recently.

I'll trundle along to Ted's auction, want some baynots and slings if nothing else.....

In additionto losing its bolt (I guess it managed to get though Proof without one.) , this "brand new" "never issued" Fazackerly action seems to have acquired a BSA barrel.
