Parker Hale "tunnel" target front sight on a LE No. 5?

Is there any way to fix the tunnel front sight on a No. 5 without causing permanent damage?

Thought so. But thanx, Peter for putting me quickly out of my misery.

You might be able to if you removed the front assembly and got a distance piece made up and used a "modern" palma foresight...they are not very robust though.

Don´t want to make any irreversible changes to my already not very original .308 No. 5. Was thinking along the lines of changing the direction of the dovetail. I don´t need it as I use a Parker Hale windage adjustable rear sight. But even soldering the dovetail is more than I want to undertake. I should most likely just stop tinkering.
