Landing ships putting cargo ashore on one of the invasion beaches, at low tide during the first days of the operation, June 1944. Among identifiable ships present are LST-532 (in the center of the view); LST-262 (3rd LST from right); LST-310 (2nd LST from right); LST-533 (partially visible at far right); and LST-524. Note barrage balloons overhead and Army "half-track" convoy forming up on the beach.

He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose
There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.

Anyone else struck by the look on the face of the fellow center right photo 2 with the cocked helmet smiling at the camera? For some reason my eyes were drawn directly to him.

I think the seaward side of the big sign said " Utah Beach ....now under new management " .
