The A&G* Carpenters used to repair them using the pitch-pine from unserviceable TABLES, Folding, GS 6'. Remember them Tankie? I think that the folding legs were made to amputate fingers. The later ones have inbuilt spacers between the guillotine type legs to prevent amputations. Mind you, it's taken since 1920 or so to incorporate this safety mechanism...... Don't want to rush things.

As long as it’s clearly a reproduction, recycling the old hardware sounds like a good idea to me. Why would you throw it away when it can still be useful?
Original Bren chests are not thick on the ground here. I would be happy with a “retro” chest, even better if it had some original parts.

Yes Pete! You will recall they were used for just about EVERY conceivable task! Either in Barracks, or In the Field! A Grey Blanket, G.S thrown over one as a table cloth/cover.
And it was a desk, a display top, even a table!..............
An extremely versatile, strong & well made item of kit!
I possess Two in new unissued condition. That I bought a couple of years back.
From a surplus dealer. If you ever meet Me at a show with my Armourer Display set up.
You will see them deployed there!

Dear All
Would someone I've recently sent the Bren Chest DD(E)s to be able to forward them to another chap who wants them as my home PC has died a death and I won't have acces to my files for the foreseeable future.
thanks!

Panic over, I found a old email in my sent mail that had the relevant jpgs that I was able to forward with the original text etc scrubbed from it. That should have worked.
