Winchester Model 12 US Bomb Marked

    Good Day All,

Recently purchased a Winchester Model 12 out of an estate. The serial number is in the 1.1m range. It is the strangest configuration Model 12 I've ever seen. The receiver is marked on the right side with the the U.S. and and Ordinance Bomb. The magazine tube end isn't typical of a Model 12 it only has a point on the end. The shotgun features a factory Winchester 26" Full barrel.

The stock is marked on the left side with the letter G.H.D and below is a wheel. There is a cut for a sling swivel on the bottom of the stock.

    Any help is appreciated.

The pics are a bit hrd to tell, but it looks like a take down that's been cobbled together with a solid frame magazine. The front plug is solid frame. The clamp too...looks like maybe a receiver that needed some parts. Welcome to the forum.
    Regards, Jim

May be a trench gun that has had its barrel replaced.

Can you give a little more detail with the serial number? 1.1 mil is too high for a WW2 Model 12 trench gun.

1.01 mil would be 1943 mfg. Mostly trench guns found in that serial number range.

there was a company that bought up surplus riot/trench guns and parts right after the war and fit whatever sporting length barrels they could find or make to them and sold them for way less than new guns......
