I think what you say about web sites is absolutely right Prinz, & I have been mulling for some time over whether to have one or not. I have no doubt it would increase sales but I've always been wary because of the nature of the items I sell & the fact that I operate from home - though I suppose in any transaction you have to come up with address information sooner or later. I probably will go for it eventually......
On the other hand, if club membership in Staffordshire is rising nicely, with great interest in heritage firearms, how much would it cost me to bribe you to send a few new members in my direction?!

Took some shifting Jim and was a very tight squeeze, same one I posted about in the watering hole. Sold my old one today the "Tom Senior" excellent machine but the new one ticks all the box's.
The last edition.... to the workshop.

Well your name has been mentioned Roger -especially to those after the sniper rifles - but there tends to be an extended 'saving up' process first. There's a number who I believe have bought from you in any case. I think that with UK gun laws there's a lot of mulling over etc before buying anything - but I suppose you know that better than me! A lot of recent purchases tend to be by new members who just turn up with some horrid bitsa without asking for advice first! (Usually found on some website). Many people buy their guns when they're least equipped to do it - immediately after getting their license.

Thanks for bearing me in mind! I know exactly what you mean about the impetuosity of some people. Dave T recently had a newbie after a SMLE & had a real peach the chap could have had for about 500; no volleys, but WW1 dated, mag cut-off & wind gauge rear sight, excellent barrel, lovely walnut, tight headspace, etc. However, it had to go to the proof house before it could legally be sold. Instead of waiting a fortnight the bloke bought something for rather more from a total stranger, realised it was a dog almost as soon as he had parted with his cash & then ended up bringing it to us for sorting out. It probably owes him about 750 now, whereas he could have had a better rifle for two thirds the price if he could just have waited 14 days! Like I said in one of the posts above, in spite of dealing with people for many years professionally, I still can't understand what makes some people do what they do!

Just a thought DRP, but maybe the question is what on earth are the poof house doing to cause a 14 day back-log/wait? Heavens........., there's not much to firing off a few proof rounds and endorsing the rifle, a quick call to tell you it's done and.......
If I went to B&Q and had to wait 14 days for some paint, I'd be off elsewhere........ Maybe THAT's the problem. No competition

Thats the problem Peter there is no competition it's Birmingham London or nothing. They both seem to go there own sweet way knowing that they are the masters of there own fate as nobody can challenge them about the time they take or some of the decisions they make.
If you make any sort of waves you just get pushed to the back of the queue or your gun gets returned with some excuse like "fails headspace" gauge when you know it was fine when checked with the same gauges that have been used in the past with no problems at all.
Remember it's the proof house that makes the rules and they can and do change them as they see fit, it's the system we have and good or bad it's the one we are stuck with
