    Parker Hale 1200 series

I had from new a 1200 series Safari grade PH 22/250 and it had a heavy deep blued barrel with no sights on it. It was stolen along time ago I replaced it with another 1200 the same but only to find the barrel was shagged (From a web gun site in Aus) so it now sports a 28" S/S Bartlein 1/12 twist (Thanks Frank good service). My question is all the other 1200 that are coming up now have thin barrels with ramped front sight. Were these a limited run by PH as I really have not seen the type I brought at all.

See pic of the remnants of the old barrel to show profile also 22/250 round for scale. TIA

    Cinders,
Your original rifle could have been a 1200V (Varmint) these were made with no sights and had a heavier barrel than the standard PH rifles, and the 22/250 was a popular caliber.

Contrary to a lot of believe they were not a limited run, infact quite a few were made and they were a damn good rifle, they did however produce fewer of these in latter years. All these other rifles with thinner barrels and ramped foresights you refer to would be the every day run of the mill Parker Hale rifles.
    Hope that helps
    Gil

Appreciate the reply Gil the bluing on the barrels was really something very rich and deep they were heavy to carry but one learnt to let the projectile do the walking this crow was felled at 255 meters (Lasered) with my PH 22/250 from the top of a tree last weekend the 55gn Seirra Blitzking did a good job.
