    Left is the Britishicon 4,85, Winchester 224 E2 and the Remington 222 SPECIAL, the British 4,85 is shown for comparison

    The 224 E2 Winchester was developed for the Winchester Lightweight Rifle based on a larger M1icon carbine action and gas system. The 224E2 could be fired in the AR-15 but the AR-15 cartridge (known as the 222 REM Special) could be fired in the Winchester,

    The 222 REM Special became the 5,56mm and 223 Rem
