MG34-42 Spare Barrel Case Differences?

Does any-one know what, if any, are the differences between the spare barrel cases for the MG34 & MG42 M.G.s and how to spot/tell the differences between them if you don't happen to have any spare barrels available to try in them. I had always assumed that both items were the same/interchangeable until recently I noticed a German dealer who had both cases for sale on his website marked as being for MG34 & MG42 respectively. I would be most interested and grateful for any info, thanks.

Mg42 barrel is shorter.

Generally mg42 barrels will fit in a mg34 case, but mg34 barrels will not fit into a mg42 case.

Universal barrel carriers were also made.
