Finish on AA leg Bren tripod ?

Any one know what the finish was on the Bren Gun AA leg ? Was it paint or some thing other than paint ? And what was the color ?

The top half on the 7 I have are blued/blackened (not paint) and the bottom is the same except the foot upto the locking plunger hole is painted to match the rest of the Tripod.

Meant to say, the colour appears to vary between manufacturers and country. The CCM Tripod I have is finished in a green brown. The BSAs appear to be a middle Bronze Green (Peter says DBG so mine may have faded with age) and my AGEs are a mix of differing kaki green/olive drab.

I was lucky to have purchased the lower section of the AA leg in excellent condition from a man in the U.K. 3 weeks ago off of E-bay. The surface area of the leg that is seen out side of the tube when it's stored is missing all the finish. As noted in the information in this tread the rest is blacken or parked with 70% left on it . Still could use the top section .
