    .303 British Surplus Ammo

    The 300 rounds of .303 Britishicon ammo came in last Wednesday. I just had a chance to look at a sample of it. mostly UK stuff. I grabbed a small sample and there are copper and nickel versions from;

RL Royal Laboratory, Woolwich Arsenal, Kent, UNITED KINGDOM

RG Royal Ordinance Factory, Radway Green, Cheshire, UNITED KINGDOM

    DI Defense Industries, Montreal, CANADA

GB Greenwood and Batley, Leeds, UNITED KINGDOM

K Kynoch & Co., Witton, Birmingham, UNITED KINGDOM

Also found some Vickers mixed in....Attachment 86877Attachment 86876

Never quite got peoples aversion to this type of ammo; it's good though more for me. Its really not that big of a deal to clean and you should be cleaning your weapon anyhow, little Windex or deionized water and ammonia is all you need.

Over this side of the pond many people wouldn't shoot that vintage ammo, not because of safety or corrosive primers issues, but because it's worth more inerted & sold to living history re-enactors & collectors! You just bought the makings of an instant 303 ammo collection! Nice....

I have been searching for some 1942 MW plenty of latter stuff but the early YOP is hard to find.
Here is my 303 rounds collection I was sorting it out out a while ago not shown is a 100 rounds of MF 59 MK VII that's in a S-26 milk tin.
Different manufacturers, some very early MK VI stuff have a couple of MKII and un stamped 215gn rounds think they are BP not sure, bit of everything trace, A.P and incnd somewhere there also some linked 303 got 100 links from fleabay years ago have not seen them advertised since.
I have on hand (Not shown) @450 re-loaded rounds one bandoleer has the early stripper clips from WWI I save that for when I shoot the 1916 5MD MkIII once a year the fellas always ask have I got any spare WWI clips. (Picked up 50 pieces years ago on flea-bay)
Going to be pretty hard to add to it now as they have stopped the live collectible stuff being sold at our military fairs here in West Au deactivated only.

I recently acquired a few rounds of WWII .303 which was from local a Resistance cache; dating from a drop in 1944.
50 rounds in clips in the original bandolier and a few extra clips.

I only grabbed a handful, I have 300 rounds to sort though, so no telling what's in that batch. Last batch of 7MM Mauser I got I had stuff dating back to 1921

That's a nice collection, looks like you are documenting what you have?

I don't think I've ever seen a hollow point on a .303 ... what that writing on the side of the cartridge?

Yes, I have one of those too, they're the old Dum-Dum bullets apparently.
