Wish there were more pictures and a complete list of his 'belongings'
Maybe one of our English members is familiar with the story... And hopefully not the culprit.

Just because he had a gaggle of "illegal firearms" doesn't necessarily mean he is a bad person. Pretty obvious he wasn't on the cops radar or this would have been discovered years ago, well providing the cops weren't clueless.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

The Bobbies want to keep some for museum display. So sad that what's good for the goose is good for the gander no longer matters. Growing up as a teen I think most of my friends Dads had a Bren stuffed up in the floor joists. My dad was American Navy so it would be harder to hide a set of 16" turrets in the basement.

The rust is most likely the result of getting soaked whilst the fire was being put out, but inspecting one's collection is always a good idea - not to mention fun time for a lad.

The fact that none of the weapons were in proper gun safes and that some were apparently loaded is probably why he ended up with a 5 year sentence.
He may be a very keen collector and a kind person; but not storing your firearms and ammunition safely is just dumb!

I doubt anyone is safer. Perhaps a few "feel" safer.
