    Enfield Butt Tag

    Hello All,

I was at a local gun show this past weekend and a 1942 #1 MK 3 with a wire wound stock also followed me home.
No pictures yet but will get them up, maybe tomorrow.

Used for Grenade launching the wire wrap stiffens and supports the stock, or depending on how its wrapped and with what wire could be a farmers fix to a bust stock!

"...Used for Grenade launching..." And as line throwing guns on the Navy's big boats. That one is an Ishapore rifle.

    Hi,

I am not doubting your assessment of my rifle but I want to know what makes it an Ishapore?

    Thanks for the information,

    Gil

Not an expert, is it me, but does'n't some of the metal work, including the nut, and the stamps and stock fitting look a bit too crude. It does resemble one of those hand made Afghanistan rifles. In either case they also bring fairly good money on the market as a curio. However if it turns out to be one I would not want to shoot it, Ray
