Here in the state of New Jersey M1 Carbines have been banned since 1991 or so... But prior to that you could get 11 carbines through the DCM (you would need 10 friends to order one each) for $264.00 ($20. + $4 each). They came with no mag and no sling. Ammo could be ordered direct from Rock Island Arsenal for $0.04 a round (minimum 600 rounds).
