Question Trapdoor carbine SRS lookup please

    Hello all,

I'd be grateful if someone could look up a carbine I'm researching....SN 128,577. A model 1879? Proper C marked Buckhorn sight, no stacking swivel, cleaning rod trapdoor in US marked buttplate, saddle sling bar and ring.

    Thanks in advance!

    Jeremy

I looked in SRS and that series shows just rifles, no hit for yours. How about some pics though?

I have fallen heir to the 9,000 card index file of Richard Branum, one of the premier "trapdoor" researchers of our generation. For those who might have known him, Dick is still alive at 91, and well, but has retired from the hobby. I have not yet had a chance to properly house the 4x6 cards (am looking for a cabinet) and they are still in the packing boxes. Within a month I hope to be able to get at them to assist in answering questions such as these. While not "official" like SRS they will still be a useful tool, since the data was obtained by a man who KNEW what he was looking at and called a spade a spade.

So does 122684 but most are rifles...some just marked "A", I don't have 128467 in there at all.

Don't have my book at hand, but there are two printings/versions of Vol. 4, 1995 and 1999, IIRC. "A" indicates a cadet rifle, of course.

Mine is first printing, Mar 1983...I got it just after that and have never even seen another, let alone newer. Remember where I am though, we don't get that sort of thing here much. I'm aware it's very dated though.

Yes, beautiful BC!! Of all the things I regret not doing, one of the big ones has to be not buying 5 sets of the SRS books! They are in GREAT demand, and fetch OBSCENE prices when offered. My volume one is in tatters.

I looked up volume one once for interest and found it at $100 USD...and mine as given to me. I don't dare look for the rest.
