Question Quick advice on vietnam handguards?

So while trolling around on ebay I came across these and they are a fair bit cheaper than the ones for US ordnance and clearly there is a reason for that. But I was wondering if someone who as seen more of this kind of thing can tell me with for 20 bucks if this is worth trying to save?

There are still lots of them around in far better shape...and they don't cost much.

I think that's the plastic deteriorating. Sun damage, apparently. Like browningautorifleicon says, you can find 'em in better condition.
Those ones are $20 for a reason. Brownell's sells 'em in black, green or brown for $39.99. Gunparts lists 'em too. Assorted condition.
