I don't think primers make much difference for the Carbine loads noted here. I just use what ever I can find. It's tough out there for the reloader! Just seat them properly and good luck.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. 30 Carbine Reloading

Didn't know that H110 and Win 296 were the same. That's solid info in these times when you can't always get what you neeed or want. I've been using 13-14 grains of IMR 4227 with casts and it works well. Also Rem and CCI SR primers. The load also works accurately in my Ruger 30 Carb revolver, but the muzzle blast would knock the ears off a stone horse. JC

    Magnum primers

Hi RD..Have you found a load using H-110 powder and magnum primers that is safe? I understand that magnum primers raise the chamber pressure but don't know how much. Thanks.

the .30 Carbine is a pistol cartridge so in a pinch you can use SP primers instead of the SR.

It is NOT a pistol round! It is designed to operate in the 40,000 psi range! It is a small tapered rifle round whose ancestry is one of the Winchester .30 slr rounds. Quit calling it a pistol round before you get somebody killed!
When they tell you to behave, they always forget to specify whether to behave well or badly!
