I have an 1871 Uruguayan Mauser, rebuilt by St Entinne in 1891. When I got it the firing pin had been clipped. I was told to try getting a Steyr Kropatchneck (sp?) as it appeared to be similar.
It was close, but no cigar...I gave the Steyr firing pin and my numbered original to my gunsmith buddy, and he duplicated the pin on the Steyr on my original. OK so far. What with one thing and another, a couple months slipped by. Now, when I assemble the bolt the firing pin appears to be much too long.
If anyone out there owns one of these, could you measure the length of the pin from shoulder to the tip? And perhaps take a picture of the disassembled bolt? I am fairly sure I have assembled it correctly, but it has been a while...I am happy to shorten it if necessary, but I really need to know how long it needs to be. I suppose I could do it with overall length of the pin as well.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out.
Jesse
