Thanks all for your input.
Thanks Gil. That L3A1 will be in good hand for the years to comeI ordered the manual from the bay. Weird sometimes the things I look for are in open sight and I don't see them. The thing about the scope mounted to the womBAT comes from one of the picture Gil attached. It shows the scope mounted onto one. Even with the picture description says so. With that build in graticule its seems clearly in mind for something like that. Guess they were handed over into the observation role in NI the moment the BATs where phased out of service. About that wiring, a PM will come shortly
I recently got my hands on a full set of 12 batteries in all perfect loaded condition for pretty much nothing. But I'll try to keep them alive as long as possible so the usual 4xAA adapter or perhaps your 9V wiring will be better for usage in the small reenactment events i want to use my scopes.
About the spare parts. Anyone knows, if these cascade tubes like the all loved P8079HP are still in production? I got the feeling they are more and more hard to come by and getting very expensive these days. I remember when I saved my first IWS SS20 out of an even more horrible shape from some guy in greece, I paid half the price for a new tube then what I paid now for the L3A1 replacement tube. Guess i need to start stockpiling some for further projects to come
About the Brexit. Well as someone living in germany, its a two bladed sword. For me it will be much harder collecting all the fine items I like. Taxes are not that nice and customs sometimes are very unfriendly when it comes to importing old military stuff. So much hassle. At the moment I try to buy off as much as I can. But well no one knows the future and if there is something I really have to have, i guess i will buy it anyways XD
