    k98 sporter

I found a nice WWII K98icon with all matching parts. The rifle is not import marked but has been made into a sporter with the stock cut down. I would like to restore the rifle to military condition. It will need a stock, hand guard, barrel bands. The asking price is $325.
My question is how much should I expect to pay for the missing parts? I understand that it will never be an original matching rifle but I am not interested in a "safe queen".
I am not up to speed on the price of parts or the availability of the parts. Does $325 seem fair?
Can the Forum members help me out.

    Lots of questions here.
Is it ONLY a cut down military stock? Did they refinish the metal? Any aftermarket sights? Drilled and tapped? Sling swivels installed?

Sorry for lack of better details. The rifle is not drilled and tapped for a scope. No aftermarket sights or parts. The metal looks original not refinished. The stock is not duffle cut but cut way back and is missing the bolt tool and has the sling cut of "filled" no way to salvage the stock. All numbers and acceptance stamps are clear. Looks like a bring back that someone made into a hunting rifle. Thanks for your response, hope this helps.

There are others much better equipped to tell you the value of the mauser...but a quick search of sold listings on Gunbroker tells me it’ll be in the neighborhood of $1k.

Looking at sold listings for stocks on eBay shows them running about $200.

So I’d estimate your rifle to be worth roughly $700. That’s some very back of the envelope math but it’s how I’d value it if I were at an auction...and then I’d only go up to $400
