Opinions on this Rem 03A3
I have been looking at this 03A3 for awhile. It was in a sporter stock then put back into its original stock to sell. Serial number appears to be Jan 1943, barrel is 12/42, cartouches are somewhat faint like the stock may have been refinished at some point, finish still appears to be oil based. Muzzle measures 1+/Throat 2. It does have an aftermarket rear sight that was drilled and tapped into the receiver, two holes in receiver. It is missing the hand guard retaining ring. Front sight does have some dings near the pin holes from being driven off and on. Bolt appears to be correct. I don't care about the aftermarket rear sight or the sporter stock that comes with it. I could source a original rear peep sight and handguard retaining ring and just go shoot it. They are asking $500. What do you all think? I'm on the fence because of the holes in the receiver.

The holes in the receiver could be filled and made gone with little to see after...not that hard. There are other things you mention. I think you're right up at the top of the buck for an altered rifle...in USD.

Thanks Jim, That's what I thought also on an altered rifle. Think I'm going to pass on this one unless they are willing to come down a little.

Yeah, I have to agree. It is a nice-looking rifle, but no collector or premium value. Wouldn't pay that for a rifle that is only a shooter. Keep looking.
