Looks like your're under way Max,
Bit of a battered *Laminate stock there! That said, the other parts needed are all out there, perhaps try Brian Dick (of this parish) for the missing bits.
I think you have made the right decision with the SMLE, unless you can get hold of a cheap shot out example as a parts donor of course.
That said, you will find getting the K98 back into stock WW2 shooting trim a lot easier, SMLE's are all individual and require a lot of patience and hand fitting to get them shooting well, a real labour of love.
NB * Laminate or Walnut are both correct, they were swapped between rifles all the time. As a 1943 built rifle, yours probably came out of the factory with Laminate woodwork fitted.

Thats Right John, it would of had a Laminate stock It was the very early K98's that had Walnut and the Converted G98's I think. I've been reading quite a bit on the K98 but sniper variations...... never been keen on them but whilst making a start on my repro K98 sniper I wanted to try and get it period correct, mainly for a display but have started to get a Liking for them, I've picked Promo's brains for what scope rail for the make of Action I'm using etc and he has pointed me towards some excellent books.
