    What caliber is this barrel?

I have a Mk2 barrel that I got with my Mk3 kit from Sarco that I need to identify the caliber.
It has a flat chamber face and the number 1-7234 stamped on it.

What did Sarco tell you it is when you bought it?
    I'd slug the thing.

Anybody you know with an 8x57 cartridge? Not for firing, but just to check the fit. Or buy a snap cap bullet in 8x57. Otherwise could it be a 7.62x51?

I ordered the Mk3 kit with no barrel, but the kit came with this barrel. I assumed it was a 303 until I read some of the posts on this site. I got an extra 303 barrel so I will hang on to this 7.92 barrel in case I want to do a conversion later. I did try a 7.62x51 to see if it fit, it did not.

As per what Lee Enfield has said.
Another serial number to add to my data base :-) shame no one has the same s/n body to match it to.

"...it did not..." Shouldn't either. The rim and shoulder diameter is bigger than the 8mm Mauser.
Slugging the barrel will tell you exactly what its diameter is. Hammer a cast .30 cal bullet or suitably sized lead fishing sinker through the barrel and measure with a micrometer. .308" for the 7.62. .323" for the 8mm.
