Modified (?) Flip Sight Sells For.... And D Tip Slings

On June 2-2019 this Flip sold for $204.50

    Inland marked leaf WSI.
Short leaf had the peep hole drilled bigger...... If I'm seeing this correctly.
$204.50.... 13 bidders. Winning bid was minimum above next bid, so winner had more than likely bid higher yet.

Take a look, Am I correct that the short leaf has been drilled bigger?

    Tall Leaf:

Tired of seeing D Tip slings being sold as WWII, or with mis leading descriptions. Then this seller writes a Tutorial on how to ID Real USGI vs Repro D Tips.
Combine all this hog wash and you've got mis informed buyers giving $53....... $80+ for them. Like this example below. If you look at the Feedback he's made a small fortune flipping D Tips.

    Original USGI M1icon Carbine Sling,

    Nice condition,

Sling webbing is WW2 olive drab color

Has the right amount of wear to give it character and to show its the real deal!!

Steel sling ends with Parkerized buckle,

Looks to be Late WWII era
    Snap is unmarked

WW2 slings were often reissued and treated for use in damp locations, these were then MRT stamped and dated for that year

A good way to check USGI slings from the fakes is to look at the back side of the female snap, it should be a raised embossed washer not flat, this gives it strength. On the flat side of the male snap you want to see the "mud ring", it should look nicely finished, the fakes look crudely done. Also on a used USGI sling you should see some wear on the webbing caused bu the forearm swivel. If these are hidden from view you most likely have a fake and there are many on ebay. Check my fully exposed pictures and you will see what I mean. Questions contact me. and good luck bidding. Please be sure to leave me positive feed back so I know that you are happy with my product. Thanks

For a few dollars more than a Cheap Repo you get the real Deal.

These Are getting hard to get, especially in this condition, get one while you can
This is the real USGI item not a cheap foreign copy.

The Above BS from this completed listing:

It's worth noting that the seller, who is full of BS as noted, seems to have a continuous supply of C and D tip slings and also an ever rising cost for even the fairly common D-tip ones. Sorry, I'll find my stuff somewhere else and rest easier at night.

It looks like it to me. I'd call the sling "Korean War" era. What would've our "Buddy" Harlan thought of this??

Even a few sellers I used to trust have gone to the "Dark Side." - Bob

    Bob,
I don't know the seller of the Flip site and I could see where it could be possible to not notice the enlarged hole. Maybe overlooked by both the Seller and those bidders.
But for that price tag, lessons learned.

As far as the D tip sling seller ...... Way back on one of his early sales, a positive feedback was left but the buyer stated that these were considered post WWII.
So he was told years ago.

I have all the C tips I need, but when using a sling I use a D tip. No reason to put the wear and tear on a pricey C tab when a D will do the job.

Side note: Nascar runs at Michigan this weekend.
