Help identifying an army cap

Hey guys,
So, I found this hat and I am a little confused as to which military branch it's from.
The insignia is for an army enlisted man (right?) but I thought that army visors were brown and the marines were black in the 1940's. Anyone out there who can clarify this for me?

I'm seeing that U.S. Army OR's didn't have a forage cap after 1942. The hat is Army. Might be an officer's hat somebody stuck an OR's badge on.
I think the cap badge may be Viet Nam era.
Rummage around here. Caps, Service, Wool, Serge, Olive-Drab (Specifications QMC 8-5D Caps, Service, Wool, Serge, Olive-Drab, Aviation Cadet (Specification QMC 8-5E Dated 12 December 1934).

The enlisted service cap device dates to 1917. Also presently worn on the campaign hat by Army drill sergeants.
