Side scope mount for No4 Mk1

    I've recently picked up a sporterized No4 Mk1.
I was hoping to convert it back to military spec, but it has had the bayonet lugs part of the barrel removed. That said, the bore is great and it shoots well, so I think it could make a good deer rifle.

It has been already drilled for a side mount bracket for a scope, but I have no idea where to get such a bracket.

Looks like it is for 2x 3/16" Fine Thread bolts, 47.7mm or so apart, about 6mm down from the LHS top ridge, and 12.7mm back front the LHS front ridge.

Anyone have any idea where I might find something to fit? I've been looking for the right bracket or a suitable blank to no avail.

    Cheers,
    DeeBee

If you or a good buddy is handy with metal work, I fabricated mine out of angle iron.

Could be the Australianicon Field Mount. Good luck finding one . As already suggested use angle and fit a ordinary rail to that. Just make sure it is properly lined up. When doing your zeros make sure you allow for the height above the bore other wise it will only be correct at two ranges going up and the on the way down.

Could be one of the Parker Hale jobs, either with removable upper rail and rings or all one piece. There is an "angle-iron" type mount made up in Canadaicon that is sold on ePay. No one has ever made a really solid non-D&T detachable scope mount for the No.4.

Your best bet by far is a Russianicon PU type mount; they are the ONLY mount system that allows the rings to be reliably collimated to the bore and still have a detachable scope, all with basic hand tools.

There are substitute upper mounts available with 1" rings and wider ring placement than the original PU.

They are made for the curved side of the Mosin-Nagant, but should be easy to machine flat.
