If I'm not wrong, Alfred Einstein said:
    The intelligent man solves problems,
    The wise man avoids them,
    The stupid man, creates them.

So, after all, if there are so many problems in this world, there also must be a reason
The one I like is F.M. von Hammerstein-Equord:

I distinguish four types: there are clever, hardworking, stupid, and lazy officers. Usually two characteristics are combined. Some are clever and hardworking; their place is the General Staff. The next ones are stupid and lazy; they make up ninety percent of every army and are suited to routine duties. Anyone who is both clever and lazy is qualified for the highest leadership duties, because he possesses the mental clarity and strength of nerve necessary for difficult decisions. One must beware of anyone who is both stupid and hardworking; he must not be entrusted with any responsibility because he will always only cause damage.
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

This particular show at Gettysburg PA is usually tough to get a parking place at but we had no trouble. Went in looked around and not a huge amount of activity going on. Found Mike sat down with him and did my Tokarev paperwork and talked for a LONG time. The Instant background checks were not instant by any means. I didn't keep track of the time but it had to be close to an hour and a half. I told him I was surprise at how few people were there and he said the place was packed between 9:00-11:00. They came in bought all the ammo and left. Slightly scary thought.

Today I stopped in our local gunshop for the first time also. Just had no desire to go in there when I didn't need to when people were acting crazy. His handgun cases were almost empty. Very few black guns on the racks. No one there but me and one other guy. Other guy asked about the crowds and he said if we wanted to see crowds, to come back in the evening. People were back to work now and I was there around 2:00 which is early. Said the place gets full after people get off work.

My ammo order that was placed in April was cancelled. Price went up $55 on a reorder, I complained, they said they would honor the original price and gave me a $25 coupon. Tried to reorder but in the 3 days to get my complaint answered, they sold out again. So who knows when I'll get that if ever and if the price will be good or not.
Sounds like people are still preparing for war... I thought things were slowly getting more quiet also over there. Riots still going high?

Same here. Very light crowd and very high prices on Milsurps. It seemed more of a "hey look at my stuff I really have no intention of selling". I can see the high demand modern Personal Protective Equipment (black guns pistols etc..) bringing a premium but not .22 trainers and 03 Springfields.
I hope the e-bay model (price it sky high and eventually a sucker will show up) is not taking over. Not much walk in stuff either.

Well, another update on the homefront and the gunshop. Local bear spent two hours in a tree in the otherside of the township with a local news crew filming the bear like it was some sort of protests. The news caster was even throwing food at the bear until it took off into the woods. I kept a loaded .30-06 Remington hunting rifle loaded just in case. I use to hunt these critters back in the 1970's and they can be very dangerous. Worked the gunshop on Tuesday all of the Glocks, S&W and low end SIG Sauers are gone!! We have no idea when some more will be coming back in. All of the Troy Industries A4 are gone as well. We did get a new source of guns to sell. Photo attached!! LOL!! Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Maybe call that the "morally consistent self defence for liberals" cabinet?

"Sir, are a registered Democrat? I believe we have some guns over here you will like."

Better ask the boss first though.

I really can't say what is going on around here. Things are happening that I never thought I would see and it is disconcerting. My wife is telling me to be careful going to Lancaster and I've not been taking her seriously at all but in a neighboring small city called York, a woman was dragged out of her car and her car was damaged pretty badly because she made the mistake of being on the same street as a bunch of moronic peaceful protestors. We have Democrat mayors and Governors who seem to be waiting for Trump to move in and take care of their problems so they can vilify him for it but he isn't making any moves and they are coming to the conclusion they have to take care of it themselves. But they've waited so long, it isn't going to be easy. I have no sympathy for them. I'll happily wait and watch until they start begging Trump to come in and then he will and it will get taken care of. But they won't be able to criticize him for it because they made the request. The media went on an on about how the protests were not increasing covid cases but the day after a Trump rally, they declared it was a record day for new cases. Completely ignoring that it takes a minimum of 5 days for symptoms to occur. There is a concern I have about Gettysburg National Military Park. I saw an online flyer today that set off all sorts of alarms and I know some conservative groups are watching this very closely. I forwarded it to the National Park Service and they replied that they were aware of it and were in constant contact with the FBI and other federal agencies. The event in question involves a flag burning in the Gettysburg Cemetery. Now I know of no cemetery in Gettysburg called the Gettysburg Cemetery so I have no idea what that means but the Feds won't allow it in the National Cemetery and Evergreen probably wouldn't either. That is where several Confederates are buried and their graves are usually marked with Confederate flags. These same groups have alluded to a possible attempt to deface or pull down the Robert E Lee statue which would be quite a feat because it's huge and people will not stand for it. They were asking for volunteers to guard it. This is all happening on the July 4th weekend which is the 150th anniversary of the battle. The danger of course is it backfires and the conservative groups get into conflict with the Park police inadvertently. They are on the same side but they can't officially sanction anything. I'm not part of any group but am feeling a bit conflicted because that battlefield means a LOT to me and that's not an understatement. These threats have occurred in the past and nothing ever came of them but the incident in York has me concerned. In order and roughly the same distance apart are Lancaster-York-Gettysburg and Gettysburg is in easy reach of Baltimore which is the nearest true city. Lancaster and York are both sort of minimal for the designation. York is also easy reach for Baltimore and it wouldn't surprise me if the malcontents are from there. Lancaster has had peaceful gatherings. Ephrata has even had a few, no more than 200 or so standing with signs. But for here, that's a lot. Last time this was going on they got less than 10.

I do not carry although I and my wife are licensed to. I may start and that's a pretty big decision. It's crazy and the authorities are not doing anything to control it and it's giving them incentive to escalate. This is one of those things that should have been cracked down on in the very beginning and these Democrats refused to do so because they thought they were on the same side. I think they are now learning that the anarchists don't like them either.

Here on the other hand things are still kind of strange. People walking to the far side of the sidewalk to pass you, the next one brushes shoulders. Mostly no masks but there are some. My gym is open again but it's the only one. My range never closed but one in Northern Ontario won't open for months yet... My son says in Vancouver they are suspecting that this session we just went through IS the second wave...the first was back in December in China...
    Regards, Jim
