There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.

Obviously they had their own manual of arms.

Who are they? Could be Norwayicon, the Germans left tons of equipment when they surrendered, maybe those hats.

MAP figures don't show Austriaicon in the list of M1s given, but do show 25K "Rifles" in 1963.

1937? Those rifles would be gas traps and they would be the enemy.

it doesn't make sense to me but that is the caption

    perhaps it was 1957

Osterreich Bundesheer troops on exercise in 1956. Two have M1icon Garands, the third a M1 carbine

This legendary WWII rifle was the mainstay of the early Austrian army. A total of 25,811 Garands were transferred in 1955; 25,000 from the departing occupation troops or the Stockpile A system, and the other 811 via an additional buy. Austriaicon designated the Garand as GM1.

They must have had M1s before then, mid 90s I bought ex Austrian Army M2 ammo with date stamps of 1960 and 1961. The Danes must have had M1s about the same time as they too produced M2 ammo in 1961.[COLOR="black"]
