    TOKAREV PISTOL SLIDE CATCH

I tried to have my wife use the Yugoicon M57 TOKAREV but her finger was not strong enough to push the slide catch down, seems to narrow for her to get good leverage with her week finger.

I think I solved the problem by buying a Romanian TTC Tokarev Pistol from Classic Firearms from all of the pictures I have looked at the slide catch seems a bit wider than the Yugo (also an excellent excuse to get one )

If that doesn't work, I may buy a Slide Catch to modify. Making it a tad longer and wider. Has anyone played around doing this?

The first thing I would do is take a stone and make sure the back of the slide catch and the notch on the slide are smooth and do not have any burrs.

Alternatively, you could just pull back the slide.

The slide catch and notch are smooth and releases really nice. My wife just lacks the finger strength to release the slide due to the minimal area to press. Which is the reason I am considering buying a slide catch to modify, and because I don't want to mess with the original slide catch Just looking to make the pistol usable for her.

Alright, then it doesn't seem like too difficult a challenge if you have a welder and some files to build up a larger pad on the slide catch and file it to shape. you could also consider drilling a hole in the slide catch and adding a pin which extends out on the slide catch and peen it in place on the other side.

Can I ask why you seem to be ignoring the obvious though? A quick pull and release on the slide will release it with the magazine removed or when inserting a new magazine. A small change in training would make this natural after a few shooting sessions. It is also suggested that gross motor movements are easier to remember when you are under stress.

And if it's hard to keep grip on, add a piece of skateboard or grit coat tape to either side. Roll the pistol slide left and use overhand grasp with left thumb and index finger...barrel stays down range.

I'm not ignoring obvious, she already can do and does that. I just want her to have the full functionality of the firearm; it's no different than a left-handed person wanting a lefthanded slide release on their 1911. This is not uncommon thing, Wilson combat sells a wider/extended slide release for the 1911, I was just wanting to mimic that if the Romanian TTC Tokarev Pistol is no different then the M57. I do agree with you 100% on everything else you wrote and thnk you for the thoughts and advice. Maybe, It just may Anal retentiveness of wanting a thing to work as intended for anyone LOL
