    It chambers 30.06, the action isn't drilled and tapped , though I will have that done. The rear sight is marked 'Marbles, Gladstone. Mich, USAicon.' The barrel measures 22'' from the muzzle to the back of the receiver ring, so I don't think it is a BSA one.

    Here is a closeup of the marking on the receiver. There is also an '&' next to the eagle mark on the other side on the barrel.



    Thanks for everyone's input. What I think I'll do is send it away to get drilled for a scope and new sights, take it to the range with a range of bullet weights and see how it shoots. If it needs a new barrel they're still for sale from Criterion. Putting BLOicon on the stock looks like a straightforward process.
