Indian vs British No1 MKIII stocks.
Hi all,
I hope all is well. I would like to know if the British
No1 MKIII used a cross bolt in the stock or was it just the Indian rifles?
Thank you!

It was originally a British
'invention' that was picked up by the Indians.
Whilst we in the UK basically used it as a 'repair / strengthening' screw, the Indians eventually introduced it for all production.
It could be either, but % wise there is more chance of it being Indian
Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

OK thank you. So an English Enfield could have the cross bolt as a repair but in general the stocks did not come with them. I appreciate the help!

The "Ishapore screw"; an appropriate double-entendre!
