Classic Guns of the World Series by Schiffler Military

I love these books. I now have four of them, Luger vol 1, P-38, Garand and 1911. Planning to get the rest although I'm spreading them out so the wife doesn't get alarmed.

These are great for the casual collector. They are admittedly eye candy but I love eye candy. filled with color photos of used firearms as well as a few museum pieces. They cover the history of the creation of the firearm, how they were adopted by the various military's and offer most if not all variations along with brief descriptions of their competitors. They have disassembly, accessories, ammunition, and many markings. The markings is where the serious collectors might lose interest because they don't have all of them in charts like some of the more detailed books. Still a lot of information in these. Biggest drawback is they are only 80 pages in large style format. The Luger only covers the beginnings, WWI and the Weimer years. WWII will be in Volume II. The P-38 ends with WWII. The Garand basically ends with Korea but does have pages devoted to conversions, the M14icon, BM59 etc at the end. The 1911 also basically ends with WWII although it lists a lot of the variations right up to today condensed into a few pages. Obviously not extremely detailed in this area.

They also have the Sten, US submachine guns, Germanicon submachine guns, Early Mauser rifles and I believe German machine guns.

    Priced great at $25
