Thank you for your response. I was wondering whether to "fix" it or not because, Roger Wadham (Accurizing the Lee Enfield) indicates "harmonic vibration" to be an important component of accuracy and, one assumes, the Enfield designers thought it important enough to include the inner band and spring in their design. I was hoping to get some indication of what others thought and now I have one vote for "Don't fix it if it ain't broke."
