Sort of what I said...and we kept a stock of boxes in stores for shipping. As for the smaller internal box, possible it was mags but I never saw those. Everything was just issued in bulk from QM. The rifles were still in the bag/box. Mind you that's 1959 and I came on scene fifteen years later.

I did put a bid on the box in an effort to secure it from being turned into a coffee table .... Unfortunately, bidding sailed 'way past' what I was prepared to pay...
