Lee Enfield SMLE No. 2 Mk IV*

    ***Sold Pending Funds***

I am offering for sale my Lee Enfield SMLE No. 2 Mk IV*. It started life as a 1917-dated BSA SMLE Mk III* .303 in the service of the Britishicon Army. Its receiver, bolt, nose cap, and fore-end are BSA serial numbers matching. The other parts and furniture are from the Lithgow Arsenal because at the end of World War I, it was transferred to Australia. In 1941, it was refurbished at Lithgow, fitted with new HV (high-velocity ammunition) sights, and reissued to the Australianicon Army for service during World War II. Sometime after the conclusion of this war, it was returned to the Lithgow Arsenal where in March of 1949, it was converted into the No. 2 Mk IV* .22 it is today. Its Lithgow Arsenal .22 barrel is dated February 1949.
This rifle is a genuinely unmolested, all original, supremely collectible Lithgow Arsenal produced SMLE No. 2 Mk IV*. Its exceptional history is legibly documented on its stock. Lastly, it is fully functional and still a fine shooter.
I have located all the markings I could find on the rifle and have listed them by location and included an explanation of them and what they mean as described in the excellent reference book "British Enfield Riflesicon - Volume 1 3rd Edition, Revised - SMLE (No. 1) Rifles Mk I and Mk III by Charles R. Stratton (see list below).
The price is $975 which includes shipping within the contiguous United Statesicon. If you have any questions, please email or PM me. I do have a proper Australian-marked 1907 SMLE bayonet that matches it quite nicely, also. If interested in it, again, please email/PM me. Thank you for your interest!
