U.S.A's new round for the M1A2 puts a whole new category of lethality into the main gun of the tanks capability.
I for one would not want to be anywhere near this thing if I was the bad guy.
I could not find any $'s/unit cost for the round but it would be decidedly cheaper than say a copperhead round, I stumbled cross this read (link below) and I don't think they would have sent any across the pond as they were only really introduced for field use this year, whilst the U.S was fully committed to pulling out.
It makes sense in a tanks load out to have a more mission capable round replace others doing a similar job, thus allowing a greater more sustained combat effectiveness it appears that the depleted uranium kinetic penetrator rounds are still there but the AMP deleted all the others.
