    POF MK4Z Ammo - Safe to use?

    Any advice reference using 1968 POFicon MK4Z 30.06 in a Garandicon? Thanks!

    Hard to say without knowing it's storage history... I take it the ammo LOOKS pristine?

    Here's some chat on CMPicon about it... What is it, where is it from? [Archive] - CMP Forums

    It looks okay and comes already set in the clips....I just always wonder about ammo that is almost as old as I am....

    I was using 1967 dated 303 MKVII about 10+ years ago results were mixed at times I thought I was using black powder plenty of smoke and confetti out the end of the rifle with hang fires and so on, they may have also had mercuric primers in them considering where they were made.
    P.O.F = possibility of firing

    Your 30/06 stuff may be better!

    I bought some years ago from Lucky Gunner (I think).
    At the time it was very cheap and I shot quite a bit through my Garandicon.

    I suspect these days it is much closer in price to higher quality surplus or even new production ammo. If that’s true, I probably wouldn’t buy it again.

    Maybe I’m getting more cautious as the years go by haha.
