Caution. I purchased one of these from Apex a few months ago and it would not fit over the barrel of my 17 Eddystone. The barrel channel in the guard had not been routed large enough to fit over the barrel. They are also not as tall as an as issued 17 guard. I phoned the company asking if I could exchange it for another one and was told that they would all be the same.

In the attached is an as issued 17 guard on the left and the Apex reproduction on the right.

The guard on the left was purchased from Numrich and fits perfectly. It looks to be authentic NOS WW1 issue. It was more expensive than Apex but worth it.

The difference is because the barrel channel routing is larger on the M-1917 than the P-14. If you looked at the underside of a factory handguard for each model, it's very obvious, especially near the chamber area. One look at the barrel profiles of each rifle also tells the story. You could route out the smaller P-14 handguard for clearance if you have no other option.
