KAR98 rebuild Yugo ?

I have recently come across a German K98 serial numbers almost scrubbed off plus most German markings removed. The stock ,bolt and receiver are re serial numbered Like a Yugo rebuild.. The receiver serial serial number which is W2465 Is on the right side of the receiver, very faint original German serial number on left side. Rifle is redone beautifully. The top markings though have not been taken off BNZ43? Some of the small German marking still remain on bolt extractor ring And other Very small places. the top of the receiver seem to have taken the German marking off it is almost a rust blue and not matching the rest of the Blue.I am not very computer literate and cannot seem to figure out how to take a photoAnd link it up.Serial numbers on stock run vertically Which goes along with Yugoslavia Rebuild. But why leave the BNZ43 on top of receiver?? Odd.Any info would be appreciated. It's also very small 8 on top of barrel just ahead of receiver.

I don't think they did normally scrub the K98 rebuilds, not completely anyway.

The 'bnz' is original (made in the Steyr factory in Austria) but the '43' stamp below it, is not original, it's clearly been overstamped over the remains of the original 43 with a different font stamping, and its far deeper than original. Whether this was done during the rework or later in civilian ownership is debatable.

This is an odd one. Is it a K98k? or later model stock Yugo mauser stock. Very unlike the traits seen on Yugo K98k captures & rebuilds see mine on page 1 of this SRF post.

I don't think a K98 will fit in a later Yugo stock. They are medium length actions. Can't say I ever tried either.

The Yugos refurbed a lot of surrendered K98's. Have to watch the ones they rebarreled. The Yugo manufacture barrels are about 1/4 inch shorter than German/Czech production and stocks are inletted for the shorter barrels. Don't know why but a Yugo produced K98 stock will not fit a German K98.

K98 actions that were converted to Yugo style an cut back barrels still have the same lenght actions. just a shorter barrel. then you have the Czech actions which are shorter or intermediate actions an shorter barrels. All depends on when an which rifle was used. This one pictured looks like some one wants it to be something it is not. Like stated the numbers are too deep an the style looks different to me. The Countries used a different style of letter an number sets that we have avaible today.
