A stamped by the circle P

Is an A stamped by a circle P a rebuild mark or something else? I've never seen one there before. There are no other rebuild stamps on this.

The A stamp appears on stocks of garands rebuilt by the navy specifically the navy match rifles.

I have one other question. Going through the threads, I saw that barrels marked with a "T" were, "targeted", but they don't say what "targeted" means. Additional firing tests for accuracy maybe? I'm trying to figure this out before I buy this rifle. Any help on this would be appreciated.

It does mean targeted. I have always assumed that it was checked as part of an assembled rifle to make sure it was capable of meeting required accuracy requirements.

    Sorry, I forgot the rule

My SA/JLG came in. I forgot the rule about starting a new post with an old post, and can't figure out how to delete the new post. If anyone could help me understand more about Navy Match rifles it would be greatly appreciated. I read in some of the old threads that the Marine Corps marked their match rifles with an "A" by the circle P also. Were Navy/Marine Corps match rifles ever used at the National Matches? Does anyone know why there are 5 dots imprinted on the right side of the stock in a "star" pattern? I have many questions.
