It all depends.
There are different gategories for self defence, sport and hunting, and collectors. And restrictions on ammunition. And gunsmiths, business, shops, transport, manufactuing, etc.
I can be a collector, hunt and sport, and have firearms for self defence. Or any combination with their own restrictions.
Each firearm requires its own licence application.

As for the original topic of the thread, most of us are to some extent I think aware that the world is changing rapidly and one's hobbies though they can be a distraction from that, increasingly seem rather pointless in comparison to more pressing matters.
