It's coming along.
Here is the cradle I built. Few more coats of finish on the stock before we go after the checkering. I didn't want to put the frame on and scuff it when going over the stock between coats, so I made up some mounts in FreeCAD and 3d printed them.
Then I got tired of handling the forend while wet, and decided I needed a second cradle for small stuff like the 1911 grips I've been practicing on.
I knew there was a good reason I bought a 3d printer for the kids at Christmas last year!
I might iterate a few more times on the hardware design and make some kits for anyone on here that wants one.
Color on the stock is better in person than the lighting of pictures shows. I'm very happy with it. When I'm done with the finish, I'll take some pictures of the repairs. They are starting to pass the 5ft. stare test.
