    Attached is a CMPicon letter giving a not very positive view of what they have in stock.



    The above video on the CMP youtube channel gives a more positive vibe.

    As with anything this old you'd be much better off going to a CMP store and picking one out for yourself. I believe when they refer to a model 1899 rifle that it is a model 1898 cartouched in 1899.
