Funny, I looked at the photo first, saw that "hook" and thought exactly that. WTH were they thinking?
“There are invisible rulers who control the destinies of millions. It is not generally realized to what extent the words and actions of our most influential public men are dictated by shrewd persons operating behind the scenes.”

    Edward Bernays, 1928

Much changes, much remains the same.

Someone must have had a real aversion to hammer bite.

Yeah Jim & L&S the curl on the hammer spur would certainly bite one if they did not include that spur to protect the firer.

I have one that I believe was made in 1945 but not for the Britishicon. That would have been pretty cool but no B prefix. It is among the serial numbers sold to the British however meaning that they were fulfilling contracts at the same time for both the British and Argentinaicon.

Been a long while but supposedly that batch was made from steel from the Graf Spee. That is pretty cool, but they can't verify it. MI6 was involved so much secrecy. But the thing is, Argentina couldn't get steel anywhere else at the time and this huge ship was just sitting there and all of a sudden, this steel suddenly appears.

I believe the steel was from the US under lend-lease.
