Good Morning All,

Took the T-Gewehr out to the range last Wednesday and had a roaring good time. It was not easy as I have a helluva cold right now and my head is still congested. Well, after the first shot, I now fully understand what "knock the snot out" truly means. It wasn't pretty and the range buddies are still laughing.

I saw one yesterday at the Phoenix, Az gun show. I asked the guy if he had shot it and he said no. It was for sale, but was tagged “price on request”.

The other one I have seen is in the Austrian Military Museum in Vienna.

No shooting stories, but still neat to even see one in person.

I've seen them in person too, Germany at the museum in Rastatt I think. They had everything in weapons. I've shot the Boys anti tank rifle but not a T Gewehr.

A fair asking price would be $10-15K. Till I got mine, I only saw them in museums, VFW Halls, and larger gun shops that had them up on the wall with a not for sale sign. Randy

I have fired a Panzerbüchse Boys although since it was never captured and used by Germany in WWII I guess I have to call it by its rightful name, the Boys anti-tank rifle. Mines been converted to .50 BMG, does that count?

When they came into Canada in the '80s, many were done just that way. I remember Al Leander out in Alberta showing us his new chamber ream for it. He'd just bought an M2 HB to cut and convert.

Definitely cheaper to shoot that way and less hassle since the rifle is no longer considered a destructive device, the only other modification you have to make is to notch the front of the magazine for the longer o.a.l. of the cartridge. .50 BMG ammo is plentiful and relatively cheap, the only problem is I have to drive further afield to find a range that allows me to shoot it. My home club only has a 200 yd. rifle range and has arbitrarily limited .50 BMG shooters to 5 rounds per day to 'preserve' the berms. I've taken to driving to New Mexico where my brother who's in Federal law enforcement is currently stationed and having "range days" out in the desert east of Roswell. Keep hoping to see some aliens one day (the extra-terrestrial type!)

We all would love to shoot OEM spec cases, bullets, and powder from an unmolested T-Gewehr. However, as you can tell my the tales and trials/tribulations finding OEM spec cases, the 50BMG is the best way to go. With my once-fired cases and custom bullets, I am at $6/shot. At one point in this saga, RCBS OEM cases would have brough the total to about $14/shot. This would have put me at $140 every Wednesday at the range just for the T! There might be some OEM cases coming soon but I will stay with my solution for now. Retirement is a tough opponent. Randy

Interesting, I guess fresh drawn cases? I'd like to see one. I'd still worry about cracking them, having to re-anneal them during use...
