Looks like a shortened 7.62x39mm, like maybe for a silenced spy gun or something.

    Soviet PSM pistol

The PSM was introduced in 1973 as a high ranking officers sidearm in the Sovieticon Military. It used two bullets in the military loading and was able to penetrate soft body armor.

I am sure the Soviets used it in the KGB etc.

I had the chance to buy a PSM back around 1999 for $3200 US but did not buy it. These pistols were never allowed to be imported into the USAicon. But, often given as gifts to high ranking military and civilians who did bring these pistols into the USA. It was also reported that some PSM pistols made their way into the US from Canadaicon too.

Owners of these pistols can make cartridges from 22 Hornet brass, turning down the rim and cutting the extractor groove and sizing the brass in a reloading die
