Pics of 1944 Izhevsk M38 carbine.
Well, picked up the M38 today, $150 OTD. Interesting piece. First off, the top handguard is of the early type, where the barrel band sits close to the rear sight. Stock appears to be a modified M91 or modified prewar 91/30 stock. One pre war sling slot escuthcheon, one post war escutcheon up front. Bolt body is Remington, cocking piece is Tula. Magazine is Tula. NO import marks on this, Korean bring back? Can only speculate. Its been rode hard. Traces of red paint up front. Like it a lot, lots o' history. Pics below!

After looking again, the number on the bolt body (which is the only number, nothing crossed out) and the number on the bottom of the mag (which is crossed out and replaced) match. Only two matching numbers on the carbine. Numbers look like the ones on Chinese carbines.
