What factory would this have been? thanks

I believe it's ROF (Royal Ordnance Factory)
You also might want to try our Google CSE custom search engine located in the top right corner below the words "Advanced Search". It only searches our site using Google techniques and can be quite efficient. For example, in your case, type in the words rof b mark and see what happens ..
I read one post in the thread below where member krinko indicated that the letter following referred to the specific maker.
The "B" is BSA and occurs on backsights for both the No4 and No5 rifles---there are small-B and large-B variations of the latter..
