That thing is definately a cut down T3. There are way too many things wrong with it. I won't list them here, but believe me, its a cutdown T3.

Jim,
I think it is a repro type 2 and not a cut down type 3.

Agree w/Bubba
It looks like it was made last week, probably was. I just can't believe that a genuine part would not be dipped in some sort of oil or preservative to stop this kind of rust.

I also agree with Bubba and I think it's from a commercial carbine and not a USGI one.

Now that i've taken a closer look, you guys are correct. Its a poor copy. The screw end is not flattened to prevent removal and the pad has no spot weld marks like originals. And I wonder if that is rust or if it is brazing....

Here is an other. I've been very tempied to bid on this band, but what is puting up a red flag for me is within the triangle there should be a PI and I can not see anything that would come close. So what do you guys think????? Gene

I agree with Bill. It's a real type 2 USGI band. But there was something that came out recently about the PI in the triangle and I don't remember just what it was.

Thanks Bill Appreciate your help. This is why I follow the fourms, helps with gaining ones knowledge and ones pocket book acquiring needed parts. Just hope no one reading needs a type ll band Thanks Gene

I'm not so sure. The corners of the triangle don't look right.
