1916 Carl Gustafs M94 Carbine Resto Project
I have an M94 Swedish Mauser that I am restoring. It was sporterized, but mostly left intact(not hacked up or a fake M94). It was drilled for a scope and when I acquired it and had an old Redfield 4x. I have decided to restore it back to its military configuration, as it appears possible. It is a very handy rifle and I can see why someone used it as a hunting rifle.
I have acquired the m94 stock, muzzle cap, rear sight parts, upper handguard, handguard retainer and metal parts for the stock. Here is what I still need.
1. Rear sight pin
2. Carbine barrel band
3. Buttstock plate screw
4. Entire front sight
5. Sling
6. Replacement stock disc
7. Original safety
I will need to replace the entire front sight as it was removed. The only replacements I see are for the k98 and the Turkish mauser. The k98 is too long and also the ID is too small, but it looks like it could be cut down to size and the ID opened up to fit on the barrel. The Turkish mauser sight looks like the Swede sight, and would probably be the easiest to install.
The second part to work on is installing the rear sight. There appears to be a pin that goes through the spring and sleeve into a hole on the barrel. I've rear that the rear sight is soldered in, but I haven't seen anything on how to do it.
The bolt handle was bent even more to clear a scope. It prevents the bolt from fully closing on a non modified stock. I'll probably just modify the stock a bit to get it to work.
Once I acquire the final parts and get the sights installed, the rifle should be a pretty good shooter. The bore looks great and all of the other metal parts are nice.
Here are a few pictures.

m/94 parts
Hello : Good to hear you are restoring your Swedish m/94 carbine . I have a few parts that can help you out .
1 m/94-14 handguard band , cut for the bayonet lug , used @ $25 ( Do not have one for the m/94 , but this one will work anyway , just a slight undercut as seen in the photo )
1 m/94 leather sling buckle , NOS , @ $25
1 Swedish Mauser safety , used @ $5
1 Swedish bore disc & screw , used @ $5
1 m/94 rear sight hinge pin , aftermarket @ $2
1 butt plate screw , used @ $2
$64 plus $6 for US Priority small flat rate box to the USA . $70 PayPal gift or US Postal money order . See group photo . Sorry , I forgot the butt plate screw in the photo .
m/94 front sight bases are hard to find and about 1 m/m shorter in overall height than the standard m/96 front sight base . See the photo . I have the m/96 "T" front base , but none for the m/94 . The m/94 used inverted vee front sight blades & I do not have one . Another problem , many of the front bases are missing the alignment screw or the threads are stripped out . They can be retapped to a larger American or Metric size & much easier to get a set screw for the retapped hole . No source for original front sight screws . The overall height of the two front bases in the photo ( without blades ) are as follows :
m/94 front base = .915"
m/96 "T" front base = .955"
So , not so easy to find a m/94 front base or anyone that can measure & check the thread before you buy one .
Another rare item is the m/94 sling . Original ones sell in the $150 range or more , if you can find one . Very different from the m/96 slings . m/94 sling can vary in length by maker , from 48" to 52" . Should have 25 holes in a row plus one at the end for stock buckle . Easy to make a substitute from another sling or modify a long belt .
If interested in the parts , send me a PM . I am in VA.

Thanks for the reply. I'll send you a PM. I'll take everything you showed in the picture.
I appreciate the information you gave me on the front sight difference. I'm sure I can figure out a way to make the taller front sight work.
I've seen lots of m96 slings, but no m94 slings online at all. Having the buckle for the stock it least gets me closer. I might see about going to a leatherworker and have them make one. I've seen a few around that do good work.
